The Canadian Curling Association sanctions and conducts 8 national curling championship events. Approximately 10,000 competitive curlers from all provinces and territories enter to play at the curling club level with the hopes of becoming one of the Canadian Champions crowned annually.
A Lixar customer since 2006, the Canadian Curling Association will save over $250,000 over a three year period. The CCA has decreased administrative costs by over 60% since the custom Event and Volunteer Management System (EVMS) solution developed by Lixar was introduced.
By using a web-based interface (internet), the Canadian Curling Association volunteers can now sign up on-line for events including the Tim Hortons Brier, Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Ford World Curling Championships, Continental Cup of Curling, Canada Cup of Curling and the Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings Olympic Curling Trials.
All the participant and volunteer information has now been consolidated in a central data repository. The centralization allows greater control for CCA organizers to effectively manage staff and volunteers, athletes and coaches, media and VIPs and other personnel involved with CCA championship events.
Because the system is virtual by nature, the CCA has more flexibility and control when creating on-line photo accreditation, submitting security clearance applications, and volunteer scheduling models. For the CCA, the process just got a whole lot faster and easier.
The EVMS is a secure web-based application that includes the following key components:
- Event Setup and Configuration (EVMS Administrator Only)
- Volunteer Registration and Management
- Attendee Registration and Management (Athletes, coaches, media, VIPs)
- Volunteer Assignments and Scheduling
- Accreditation and Identification Badges
- Detailed Reporting (3 specific areas: EVMS Manager Report, EVMS Director Reporting and EVMS Administrator Reporting)
Lixar designed and engineered the Canadian Curling Association's Event and Volunteer Management System by using dynamic technologies to ensure that the colors, graphics, fonts, and interactive pieces are not only vibrant and but the application is easy and efficient to use.
To build on CCA and Lixar success from the first EVMS solution, two more exciting projects will be launched Fall 2008, stay tuned.
By listening to and working with the Canadian Curling Association as a partner, together Lixar and the Canadian Curling Association met the outlined goals: to build an on-line registration system, gain real-time data consolidation, offer multi-event control, and to build a dynamic new application.
