Lixar Kicked it for Kids at the 4th Annual Lixar SOS Children's Villages Soccer Day on June 18.
Lixar, Bell Canada and SOS Children's Villages team-players laced up their cleats and showed-off their soccer skills. Team competition was at its highest with the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup ™ right around the corner. Team 'Tito Green' walked away victorious with the prized trophy from Lixar's Bonsai Blue - 2008 winner.
"I'm proud that Lixar employees work together, play together and collectively support important social initiatives together" said Bill Syrros, CEO. "Our investment in Rustenburg's SOS Children truly does make a life changing difference."
Lixar is very proud to work with SOS Children's Villages for the fourth consecutive year. Together, our aim is to support primarily orphaned and abandoned children in Rustenburg, South Africa through the Family Strengthening Program (FSP) and the SOS Children's Villages' FSP Scholarship Program.
Boyd McBride, SOS Canada's National Director, offered the following perspective: “The soccer was great this year, but again I was struck by the keen interest Lixar staff showed in the work SOS does. Their questions indicated real involvement and genuine concern for the children they help raise funds for.”
SOS Children's Villages provides scholarships to over 400 children throughout the community. Children will have access to education - kindergarten, primary, or secondary school. Lixar - SOS FSP Scholarships are provided to the most vulnerable children, who otherwise would be unable to attend school.
The 2009 soccer match builds on Lixar's 2006, 2007 and 2008 contribution and support in Rustenburg, South Africa. Funds raised in 2006 went towards the construction of a new SOS Children's Village which was built in part because of the 'FIFA 6 Villages for 2006' Campaign.
